Junior Development Program

General Program Description
Athletes aged 8-11 train one day per week, Tuesday or Thursday from 4:30 to 6:30. All training session take place at the Saskatoon Field House.

Coach to Athlete ratio is kept low to ensure quality instruction. STFC is proud to offer a Run, Jump, Throw curriculum to athletes of this group that has been certified by both Athletics Canada, and the IAAF. Athletes learn different movement patterns that translate into track and field events. This broad based approach ensures that the athletes experience personal levels of success while learning track and field fundamentals.

Competitions
It is recommended that Junior Development take part in all local Saskatoon Track meets. The dates for these meets are located at the back of this booklet. If you have any questions about the meets please talk to your athletes coach.

Fees
There is a set volunteer commitment for each athlete as well as the Track Membership Fees. The dollar amount for this commitment can be recouped once the required hours are completed.

Intermediate Bantam Program

General Program Description
This program is for athletes born in 1997 and 1998 train two days per week, Tuesday and Thursday from 4:30 to 6:30. All training session take place at the Saskatoon Field House until the end of April when we move to Griffith Stadium.

In this crucial stage of learning, athletes are exposed to all event areas of track & field. A broad based skill development program centres on the teaching of specific skills and running mechanics, as well as introductory core strength and weight bearing exercises.

Competitions
It is recommended that Intermediate Bantam Athletes take part in all local Saskatoon Track meets, and if so desired our competition trips. Parents of bantam aged athletes must accompany them on these trips. The dates for these meets are located at the back of this booklet. If you have any questions about the meets please talk to your athletes coach.

STFC offers a subsidy on all travel trips, with the club picking up 30% of the cost.

Fees
There is a set volunteer commitment for each athlete as well as the Track Membership Fees. The dollar amount for this commitment can be recouped once the required hours are completed.

Intermediate Midget Program

General Program Description
This program is for athletes born in 1995 and 1996 train three days per week, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 4:30 to 6:30. All training session take place at the Saskatoon Field House until the end of April when we move to Griffith Stadium.

Similar to the Bantam Program, athletes are exposed to all event areas of track & field. Now, however, an increased level of specialization begins, and more intense training begins. We still feel however that all athletes still benefit greatly from continued exposure to all event areas.

Competitions
It is recommended that Intermediate Midget Athletes take part in all local Saskatoon Track meets, and our out of town competition trips, provincial championships and provincial teams they are invited to. The dates for the meets are located at the back of this booklet. If you have any questions about the meets please talk to your athletes coach.

STFC offers a subsidy on all travel trips, with the club picking up 30% of the cost.

Competition 1 Program

General Program Description
The Competition 1 Program is for athletes born in 1993 and 1994. Competition 1 Program Athletes train four days each week varying depending on the athlete event areas, but typically Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. This program is competition based for athletes who are striving for more intensive training and competitive opportunities, but are unable or not ready to commit to a full time training program.

Along with a Coordinating Coach, there are event-specific coaches for all event areas including sprints, hurdles, high jump, long jump, distance/cross country, relays, starts and throws. The program is competition based, and specialization does occur, but athletes are still encouraged to try and participate in a broad range of events.

Competitions
It is recommended that Competition 1 Athletes take part in all local Saskatoon Track meets, our out of town competition trips, provincial championships and provincial teams they are invited to. The dates for the meets are located at the back of this booklet. If you have any questions about the meets please talk to your athletes coach. Also, National Championship participation begins at this stage.

STFC offers a subsidy on all travel trips including National Championships, with the club picking up 30% of the cost.

University and Fulltime Programs

General Program Description
This program area is for athletes aged 16 and up, and they train 5 or 6 days a week for 11 months of the year, typically mid September to mid August. Athletes have personal coaches and training plans in all of the various event areas. Training is usually specialized in the throwing events, sprinting and hurdling events, jumping events, distance/cross country events, and the combined events (decathlon & heptathlon).

Competitions
Senior Group Athletes take part in all local Saskatoon Track meets, our out of town competition trips, provincial championships, national championships they qualify for, and provincial teams they are invited to. The dates for the meets are located at the back of this booklet. If you have any questions about the meets please talk to your athletes coach.

STFC offers a subsidy on all travel trips including National Championships, with the club picking up 30% of the cost.

International Team Assistance

In the years that STFC is fortunate enough to have athletes represent Canada at International Competitions, the club has set up a fund which athletes can access to help cover the costs associated with participating on the National Team. Only fulltime athletes can access this funding.
